Overview

The LOGINaija project, initiated by Speak Out Africa Initiative, focuses on promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in local governance across Nigeria. As part of this initiative, Gwagwalada Area Council participated in a comprehensive two-day capacity-building workshop, followed by the official launch of their local government website.

Two-Day Capacity Building Workshop

The workshop, held on September 8th and 9th, 2024, in Keffi Nasarawa, aimed at training councillors and the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee on open governance principles to enhance transparency and effective communication.

Workshop Objectives

  • Understanding OGP principles and their application to local governance.
  • Learning how to manage digital platforms, including WordPress CMS, for effective content creation and publication.
  • Engaging citizens through the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act Desk at the council
  • Developing strategies for citizen engagement and transparency enhancement.
  • Ensuring readiness for managing the Gwagwalada Area Council’s website effectively.

On Monday, 10th March 2025, the official launch of the Gwagwalada Area Council website took place. The launch marked a significant step in promoting open governance and providing citizens with easier access to government information through their new website: www.gac.org.ng.
